For as long as I can remember, I have loved children. As I was growing up, I knew I wanted to be a teacher of young children and a mom. I went to college to learn how to be an inspiring elementary school teacher. As I waited for the birth of my first son, I thought I was ready. I thought I had all the skills, experience, passion I needed to be an amazing mom.

But even with all my years of teaching experience, working with hundreds of children of all ages, teaching in public schools, museums, a computer learning center, years of babysitting, and reading so many books about child development... NOTHING prepared me for the challenges of being a mother. It was all so much harder than I had imagined!

Having a new baby was so challenging and the hardest part was all the conflicting advice I got from everyone - doctors, my family, the Internet, other moms... They all gave out lots of advice and none of it fit my values and my unique, differently-wired son.

I realized that if I wanted to have an amazing relationship with my son, I was going to need the help and support of professionals I trusted. I reached out for the wisdom and experience of a team of doctors, educational specialists, an amazing cognitive behavioral therapist and tutors.

Even with all my years of professional experience and training, I needed a team. Parenting is too challenging a journey to walk alone. We all need support and guidance from experienced professionals. If you want to learn to play the cello, you work with an experienced cello teacher. If you want to learn to be an amazing parent, you work with a professional parenting skills teacher and coach.

“Thank you so much for working with me to help my son make the transition from 7th grade to homeschooling. I appreciated your reassurance that I’m not crazy, for instilling in me confidence that ‘I got this’ and for your wealth of knowledge and resources. Thanks to you, I feel like I’m off to a great start!”
